Description

Before there was a mouse or a castle there was a little girl, a cat and a talented man with big dreams...

The Walt Disney Alice Comedies was a series of short cartoons made by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks during the Silent Age of Animation. It was the successor to their early Newman Laugh O Grams series, and a precursor to their “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit'' series.

The short subject cartoons feature Alice (Virginia Davis-McGhee), a live girl, interacting within an animated world. Alice would fall asleep and then enter an animated dream world where she interacted with Julius the Cat and a host of other funny animals as the comedic adventure unfolded. Ms. Davis’ eldest daughter lives right here in Wells Branch and she will provide us with an evening presentation of memorabilia, videos, interviews and PowerPoints detailing the contributions made by Ms. Davis to the exciting beginnings of Walt Disney Studios. Join the FOL for this entertaining and educational presentation. After all, who doesn’t like Disney?

Registration is required but tickets DO NOT need to be printed; we will check attendees off a list.
